Sequoia Pettengell’s early inspiration for photography came from the intricate details in nature. This passion for photography grew into more than an artistic expression; it became an opportunity to work closely with people, together creating exquisite photographs.

Sequoia received formal training in photojournalism at Southern Oregon University, graduating in 2000. She mentored closely with Tina Bolling Photography of Ashland Oregon, gaining inspiring new techniques and invaluable managerial skills. Sequoia traveled to India and Nepal getting close to people and capturing the rawness of their lives on film.

“The most meaningful photos borrow an instant from time, communicating inner personality through a look, expression, or body language.”

Sequoia now shoots weddings, portraits, special events and commercial photography. She specializes in natural light using the out doors, but also appreciates her indoor studio for images that require controlled lighting.

Sequoia lives with her husband Ray and their daughter Nadia in Mt. Shasta, California.
